Soaking Prayer is an Oasis for me! It is like being a sponge in the presence of Jesus and soaking up God-life, peace, and strength. It is like my soul is drinking living water and my spirit is drinking His wine . When Jesus speaks to me its like honey & power to my lips. Deep within me I sense heaven and am lifted above all the issues of life.
Soaking prayer for me is positioning myself humbly before God to spend quality time with Him alone. It is to lie down within my heart and mind in His green pastures and find His rest and refreshing still waters. It is to quiet my soul and know that He is God over all that concerns me. I am reminded that I shall not want for He is my Shepard.
I ask Holy Spirit to soak me in the presence of Jesus so I can be changed into His likeness. There in that place He quiets my soul so I can hear His thoughts and not my own. I love to soak with worshipful songs because music easily ministers to my deepest places. Worshipping Him in spirit and truth just seems to drown out the onslaught of all the cares of life so I can get into the presence of Jesus.
However, I also cherish the experience of just total quietness with Jesus longing passionately for His voice and His touch. In this complete quietness there is strength, a supernatural rest, and restoration to my soul I find no other way. I believe the faithfulness of God never fails to meet us when we come to Him by faith. Time begins to fade and problems seem much smaller. When you leave this soaking prayer it is true that you carry more of Jesus with you and the grace you need for whatever you may face for that day.
These scriptures describe for me the value of soaking prayer.
Psalms 46:10 says, Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. TPT or “Be still and know that I am God.” NLV.
Matthew 11: 28-30 says Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me, I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you will discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear. TPT
Psalms 23:1-3 says, “The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bless. That’ s where he restores and revives my life. TPT.
Father, In the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ I ask you to put your anointing on all of us who love you to seek you diligently and to hunger passionately after one thing: to be with You and live in You. Lord, grace us to continually obey You and be in Your manifested presence, living under the shadow of Your wings, and releasing Your Kingdom in this world. Amen, Janee Hawks
